Getting Started with the QIF:
Year 1 Support
The IEP is keen to understand users’ experiences with the QIF and its impact. You will be assigned an IEP QIF lead who will assist you with any questions throughout the first year and arrange the following support.
Scoping Workshop
A 2-hour exploration of the QIF includes:
- Identifying existing quality frameworks and activities
- Examination of selected indicators from each of the six sections, aligning them with potential quality activities
- A brief demonstration and setup of user accounts on the Mesma platform for recording judgments and prioritising improvement activities
- An initial discussion on the implementation approach
Resources
- Access to recordings of 6 one-hour workshops which examines in more detail each of the six sections.
- Use of the Mesma platform to record self-assessment and inform a quality improvement plan.
Question and Answer session with the IEP Head of Centre of Excellence
- Arranged once a quarter these can provide you the opportunity to ask questions about the QIF, the research behind it or general advice.

Extended support
The outlined year 1 support serves as an initial framework. Depending on their current expertise, some organisations may require more tailored assistance, which could encompass the following:
- Guidance on evidence exploration and research
- Support for organisational implementation
- Quality assurance activities and guidance
- Practitioner training programs aligned with each section of the QIF
- Sessions to train group facilitators

Mesma and the QIF
Mesma supports organisations to conduct thorough and meaningful self-assessments and impactful quality improvement management.
The cloud-based platform provides a collaborative space for quality with insights that nurture a culture of continuous improvement.
The QIF is available to Mesma users on their own platforms and the IEP offers members access to the QIF via an IEP Mesma platform which enables complete self-assessment and improvement planning.
How Mesma supports self-assessment and improvement planning with the QIF:
- Alignment across multiple standards: Mesma ensures that each assessment aligns completely with the QIF. Mesma references where the QIF has already been mapped to other standards and can incorporate additional quality standards.
- Simplified process: Mesma is an effective and efficient alternative to spreadsheets and documents in a complicated world. It is proven to save up to 50% of the time to complete self-assessment across an organisation.
- Improve to grow: Mesma offers insights to guide decisions that can enhance your services and performance. Equally it helps to identify and evidence key strengths that can be confidently shared with stakeholders and support bid development.

- Helpful guidance and resources. Mesma and the IEP can support the development of critical skills across your organisation through helpful guides and resources including IEP resources, and programmes.
