Our first-ever Networking event in Liverpool, kindly sponsored by Trigon Recruitment, is just around the corner, and we want you to be there! This event is a fantastic opportunity for everyone involved in employability to connect, collaborate, and learn. With a packed agenda of expert speakers, engaging sessions, and plenty of time for networking, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable day.

Join us at the boutique Hope Street Hotel, set in Liverpool’s charming Georgian neighbourhood, where you’ll have the chance to network with fellow employability professionals, hear from sector leaders, and enjoy some refreshments. This event is designed to offer valuable insights into employability practices and how we can all help move the sector forward.

Here’s what’s in store:

13:00 Registration & Networking13:30 Welcome from Scott Parkin FIEP | Group CEO | IEP

13:35 Welcome from Sponsors | Craig Doyle FIEP | Director | Trigon Recruitment

13:40 Seminar 1 | Searching for the Best Employability Practice | David Imber FIEP | Head of Centre for Employability Excellence
What is the best possible employability practice? Would you recognise it if you stumbled across it? Could it be yours? And if not, why not? This short seminar will include a brief look at the evidence and propose some thoughts about possible models for services. Definitely not a catalogue of other peoples’ brilliance, but a borrowing from different times and places. Bring your own ideas and principles: they might be the ones we all need.

14:10 Speed Networking

14:30 Seminar 2 | Unskilled and Unaware – A Cautionary Tale? | Helen Lee FIEP | Head of IEP Learning Academy
If you have ever been confronted with the fact that you were in over your head, or that you had no idea what you were doing in a situation (or how you got there), or to your horror you discover that you thought you were more skilled at something than you actually were, then you may have experienced the Dunning-Kruger Effect. In this session we will explore why this is and consider how insight can help counter the effect and improve our practice.

15:00 Speed Networking

15:20 Seminar 3 | Solving Youth Unemployment – Labour’s Challenge | Laura-Jane Rawlings MBE DL | Chief Executive Officer | Youth Employment UK
This session will cover the current youth unemployment landscape, key issues, and what Labour is exploring, including changes to apprenticeships & the Young Person’s Guarantee.
