It was fantastic to get together recently with a group of our Australian Fellows for dinner in Melbourne. There were representatives from several of our partner agencies and employability providers, including Asuria, 4GR, WCIG, CVGT Employment, Nous Group, IntoWork Australia and Yooralla.
We discussed what leaders in the Employability Sector can do to effectively influence government and policy to get the best possible outcomes for Australians, with some amazing suggestions – some of which we will be adopting or taking a lead on. Seeing our Fellows discussing common challenges, goals and future objectives of programs openly and honestly, seeking to make positive change or change for the better so that more participants are placed into work nationally, was a truly great experience.
Ideas raised included producing a code of conduct and benchmarked training standards for professionals in the sector, active and united lobbying from leaders, and working in concert to communicate key successes and needs in delivering employability services in Australia. To be part of an open conversation that was solution-focused, as opposed to focusing on shortfalls or inconsistencies in contracts, was very refreshing and invigorating.
The IEP is here to support this discussion and move forward in the sector toward a more collaborative approach encompassing all parties with one goal in mind. It is a great feeling to provide a platform that supports the evolution of the Employability Sector in Australia.
We look forward to the upcoming Sydney Fellows Dinner on 12th December. You can purchase tickets here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/instituteofemployabilityprofessionals/1403360
This will give sector leaders another opportunity to participate in the evolution of professionalism within the Employability Sector.
