The IEP Learning Academy launched the Australian pilot of the Certificate in Employability Practice (Cert EP) on Monday 5th August, a course that focuses on developing client-centred coaching skills to give employment service participants the best possible chance at finding and keeping work.

In attendance were 10 leaders from Asuria, experienced employability professionals who will be working in partnership with IEP L&D Manager Emma Williams MAIEP and IEP Lead Assessor Tracy Jory MIEP over the next 6 months to explore the content and look at how to adapt this respected qualification to add value to Australian practitioners.

The IEP are excited to collaborate with such a highly regarded organisation and get their knowledge and experience to ensure the Cert EP is seen in Australia as both an industry endorsement for practitioners and an exciting way to learn the skills necessary to be successful in the sector. This forms part of the drive to create a global standard that allows all employability professionals to achieve a recognised professional qualification. Although early days, our colleagues have shown their keenness to get ‘stuck in’ and their excitement to explore the learning models, theories and practical strategies for professional frontline practice.

“The passion that the IEP have around professionals standards in employability continues to expand as we develop the delivery of our qualifications and accreditations to make a significant global impact,” Emma Williams MAIEP said.

“Employability practitioners, across the world, have had access to few or no career pathways that are supported by recognised qualifications, and where they have existed, they do not really ‘hit the mark’. There is clearly a need for something that allows us all to celebrate achievements in the knowledge that our profession is one that is recognised, and that wherever you study and qualify, your learning and subsequent qualification carries with you and opens up further opportunities.

“The IEP Learning Academy are embracing this need and are enabling all professionals everywhere to be the best they can be.”

Jackie Moriarty, Executive Director – Training and Pre-Employment at Asuria, said her team are excited to be part of the Cert EP pilot in Australia.

“Having contributed to the design concept for delivery to our group of leaders – present and future – over the last four months, seeing it come to life is very rewarding,” Jackie said.

“Whilst Asuria has always demonstrated a commitment to the professional development of our team, the leaders are willing and excited to commit their own time to the success of the program over the next 6 months. These 10 Asurian’s have more than 50 years of employment history and experience at Asuria between them; ensuring that the contribution and feedback to the future success of the program is guaranteed.”

Lauren Peacock MIEP, IEP Australia L&D Business Partner, said she was thrilled to be part of bringing the Cert EP pilot to life.

“Having had the chance to see Asuria’s innovative training approach and dedication to professional development, I knew they were the ideal partner for this pilot and for our future plans to offer further accredited qualifications to the Australian market,” Lauren said.

“The leaders who have volunteered to complete the Cert EP are dedicated and engaged, so I have the pleasure of knowing what they learn will have a real impact on the frontline teams that they lead.

“I am so excited to be part of a pilot which will directly contribute to skill acquisition within the sector. Evidence-led, industry-based coaching and communication skills are the foundation of excellent performance, and I feel confident that the learners will finish the Cert EP confident in their ability to use these skills.”
