Mik Belcher is a Stakeholder and Mobilisation Lead at Case-UK Ltd, focused on exploring and developing solutions to meet ever-changing needs and drive further progression in the world of health, wellbeing, and employment in years to come.

Mik began his career in employability in 1992 when he himself was a recipient of employment provision. This experience turned out to be the catalyst for a ‘fulfilling career’ spanning over three decades, starting in frontline employability services before taking on a variety of roles across Pluss (and Seetec Pluss).

Speaking of his Fellowship, Mik said:

“The importance and value of what we all do as a sector is a critical part of driving real social and community prosperity; and the IEP as a body validates and recognises all of the amazing work and successes that we help our participants achieve.

“I see this activity as a vital component and on par with the wider national health, wellbeing, and social provision, and as such, believe that it deserves equitable status in this arena.

“The IEP as a body of peers that shares practice, aims to positively influence direction, shape policy, drive sector learning, development and innovation through evidence, collaboration and most importantly knowledge and experience is key to being recognised on par with other bodies in the health, wellbeing, social impact, and employment space.

“I believe that you are never too old or too experienced to learn and develop. I’m looking forward to engaging with my fellow ‘Fellows’ and IEP colleagues to share knowledge, experience, views, and insights.

“Alongside watching and helping the sector to evolve to build on and continue the evolution of delivery and practice, in my opinion, a real measure of success will be to see the sector being considered an occupation of choice for young people just like health and social care.

“I, like most of my colleagues ‘fell’ into the employability industry, but our next challenge as a sector is to ensure that we show the next generation of practitioners and IEP Fellows just how rewarding, fulfilling, and inspiring a career path it can be… Now that’s what I call a challenge!”
