By Patrick Hughes FIEP, IEP Events Director

Our Leicester Fellows Dinner was very special. Thanks to generous sponsorship from Business2Business, and the warmth of Veejay Patel FIEP as our host. It was a great gathering.

It was our first Dinner in Leicester, and indeed in the East Midlands, so there was a special vibe on the night. Reinforced by great drumming (you had to be there) and superb food from the restaurant Mem Saab.

Unusually we had two special guests to add to our evening. First Steve Walsh, ex-Captain of Leicester City football club, who spoke movingly about the mental health challenges he had faced. Colleagues were hugely impressed and moved by his candour.

And second Chan Kataria, Group CEO of East Midlands Housing, who spoke persuasively and passionately about bringing the housing and employability sectors closer together.

The group attending, 35 IEP Fellows and Members, included about 10 colleagues who had not been to a Dinner before. It was encouraging that their feedback on the evening was wholly positive.

Even if you have already shared your feedback with me, do please respond to Amy Lucas MIEP’s survey. Your views do make a difference.

Last but not least, we are close to finalising dates for dinners in Birmingham and Liverpool so keep your eye out for announcements.

All the best. I look forward to seeing you at a future IEP Fellows Dinner!
