I am delighted to share updates from the IEP Learning Academy, particularly our focus on future-proofing the sector through our learning initiatives.

With the future of the Restart Scheme now secured for another two years, now, more than ever, is the time to invest in professional development. Practitioners can expect to receive more referrals with increasing complexity and multiple barriers to employment, and our ready-made learning is tailored to help develop the required skills.

The very latest in our suite of professional learning qualifications is the IEP Award in Supporting Participants with Complex Needs which launched last month. Supporting participants with complex needs is an ever-increasing daily part of frontline practice. Be it mental health, physical or learning disabilities, addiction, lone parents, neurodiversity, or age, sexuality or cultural loneliness, the IEP Award in Supporting Participants with Complex Needs looks at how to focus on the causes behind behaviour when facing those complex needs rather than visible barriers to work. This exciting new programme is an IEP-accredited Level 3 course that offers bronze, silver, and gold awards. It is designed for frontline practitioners, first-line managers, and anyone who supports individuals in overcoming their barriers to finding, competing for, and sustaining employment.

Learners undertaking this award will benefit from:

Tailored Approaches: Learners will gain insights into understanding and addressing complex issues and how to develop strategies tailored to the individual needs of participants. Learners will learn to identify root causes behind behaviours and barriers to work, allowing for more personalised and effective support plans.

Enhanced Skills: Participants will develop a diverse skill set, including effective communication techniques, empathy-building strategies, and techniques for fostering resilience in participants facing significant challenges.

Recognition and Accreditation: Completion of the award not only grants a digital badge and institute certificate but also entry onto the register of IEP Accredited Practitioners. This recognition signifies a higher level of expertise and dedication to supporting individuals with complex needs.

Career Advancement: Equipping practitioners with the skills to effectively support participants with complex needs opens up opportunities for career advancement and professional growth within the employability sector.
